Wigs come in a variety of sizes. From petite wigs to average and large wigs, The Wig Company offers cap sizes to fit every head. But, how do you know which one is the right fit for you? Easy. Follow our simple step by step guide below and learn how to measure your head for your new wig.

STEP 1: Start by pulling your hair up and away from your face and securing it with a hair band or clip. If your hair is short, try using a cloth head band to hold your hair back.

STEP 2: Using a flexible tape measure, lay the tape around the back of your head touching the base of your skull at a point where the wig will end and pull it forward just above your ears. Position the end of the tape at the mid-point of your front hairline. This will measure your head’s circumference. Write your measurement down.

STEP 3: Using a flexible tape measure, position the end of the tape just above one ear. Pull it across the top of your head, stopping at the top of your other ear. Hold the tape measure firmly in the spot above your ear and check the measurement. This will measure your ear to ear distance. Write your measurement down.

STEP 4: If your hair is up then let your hair down. Using a flexible tape measure, position the end of the tape in the center of your forehead. Pull the tape measure gently down the center of your head until you reach the nape of your neck. Hold the tape measure firmly in the spot where it meets your nape and check the measurement. This will measure your front to back distance. Write your measurement down.

STEP 5: Once you have your head measurements, reference the numbers in the size chart to find the wig cap size that's right for you.

It's important to consider your body frame and volume of your natural hair to ensure accuracy in size selection.

  • If you have a petite body frame and a full head of hair with moderate length, you are probably 'Petite'. If you have thick, longer hair, go up a size.
  • If you have a medium body frame and a full head of hair with moderate length, you are probably 'Average'. If you have thick, longer hair, go up a size. If you have sparse, thin, or no hair, go down a size.
  • If you have a larger body frame, your head circumference exceeds 22½", and you have a full head of hair with moderate length, you are probably 'Large'. If you have sparse, thin, or no hair, go down a size.

MORE INFO

Hand-tied Hairlines at the front and sides. Velvet Lined ear tabs and nape. Stretch Ribbon Lace. Lace Front Monofilament.

Hand-tied Hairlines - Intricate handstitching of individual fibers at the front and side hairline for a natural appearance

Velvet Lined - An economical alternative to the Velvet Comfort Band.  The ¼"  x ½"  velvet-like fabric is sewn to the front underside of the wig.

Stretch Ribbon Lace - The foundation frame of a wig cap with added stretch and security.

Lace Front Monofilament - A section of extra-fine-grade nylon monofilament with hand-tied fibers usually in the top of wigs.  It duplicates the look of the human scalp.

Washing

  • Add 1 tablespoon of shampoo to cold water. Soak for 5 minutes
  • Rinse thoroughly (incomplete rinsing dulls the fiber)
  • Gently blot with a towel. Do not squeeze, twist, brush or comb while wet
  • Hang to air dry or use a blow dryer on a low setting.

Styling

  • Unlike your own hair, the fiber only sets after it cools. Pin or hold the hair in the curl shape until it's cool, then release!
  • 240°F (116°C) is perfect. Do not go above 350°F/180°C
  • Never heat style while wearing the piece
  • To change again use heat
